The outdoors and barbecue at The Big BBQ Social – Jumeirah Creekside Hotel

We had a day of fun in the sun on Friday, April 27th as the sweet smoky smell of BBQ filled the air at The Secret Garden, Jumeirah Creekside Hotel (next to the Irish village).

Whether you like your meat pulled or rubbed, everyone was welcomed to fire up his or her own style of BBQ at one of the communal wood and charcoal BBQ stations setup on the green grass. There was a gourmet butcher on site for supplies, and a designated non-halal area to grill. Guests were welcomed to bring their own meat or purchase it from N&R Butchery on the day and cook up a storm. For those who’d rather just chill, there was also  a menu available that was cooked by the specialists.

Kids had their plates full with plenty of games, arts & crafts, and live entertainment to keep them busy throughout the day. Parents  left their Mini Grill Masters in the safety of the onsite nursery to take a break, and enjoy a cold beverage at this fully licensed event.

Charl Chaka, Founder of The Big BBQ Social, said: Following our successful launch last year, we’ve received plenty of requests and encouragement from the pet-loving community. We welcome all members of the family including our beloved pets, which makes us different from all other events around town. Thanks to our partners, we can bring everyone together again in a new luscious green playground with a relaxed, friendly atmosphere before the summer kicks in.

Pets were in Doggo Heaven playing by  picnic blanket or left to make new fur-riends in the doggie play zone supervised by professional staff from My Second Home. Animal lovers and children were welcomed  to play with the cute puppers from K9 Friends, SNIFF, and 38 Smiles looking for a Furever home in the Rescue Zone. Taking over the Pamper Zone was dog groomer centre Pets in the City where you can reward your little floofers.

For a perfect soundtrack, South African live electronic band GOODLUCK was set to get everyone on their feet with their infectious beats. The trio’s irresistible blend of electronica, jazz and pop have earned them nine top 10 radio singles, five Number 1 hits, five South African Music Award nominations and the opening act for Pharrell Williams, as a part of his world tour. They were supported by local bands Sandstörm.

Organised by HOUSEofAFRIKA &, The Big BBQ Social opened  its doors from 2pm till late. Regular tickets which were available to purchase from cost AED120 for adults (AED150 at the door) and AED50 (AED 60 at the door) for under 21, while kids under 6 entered for free.
