Staycation is at its best when you enjoy a comfortable stay with complete rooms facilities, Spa, Kids, play area, gym, mini golf and excellent food quality. But above all if your hotel location is surrounded by breathtaking views it doubles the delight of your stay.
My recent experience of mini staycation was in Mecure Grand Grand Hotel, winner of Arabian Travel Awards 2017 & a property affiliated with Accor Group . A very smooth drive towards AlAin takes you to the top of Jebel Hafeet where the stunning property of Mercure Grand welcomes you.
Enough parking is available hotel entrance has a touch of Arabic culture and as you walk in , surely be impressed by the magnificent interior of the vast & wide entrance Lobby.
It should actually not be called a Lobby but a hall with an extensive spread and various small seating arrangements. Out of their five restaurant/café outlets , three are connected from this hall. Lawrence Bar, Orient Cafe & Le Belvedere.
Another impressive element is the lush green foliage done on the walls. With a very calm and neutral color scheme of upholstery. The main entrance is done all so interesting.
The staff is caring & welcoming.
Our Room: We had our room at a very ideal location with pool views beautifully ornamented surroundings with plantation along with the mesmerizing beauty of Al Ain city from the top.
With homely vibes, beds are cosy , enjoy tea, coffee, mini bar, refrigerator, TV, wardrobe with a locker & a strong Wifi. Bathroom is comfortable too.
Breakfast At Le Belvedere: Morning breakfast vibes are always awesome ….. As we walked in this well lit capacious restaurant the aroma of freshly baked breads and live cooking of omelettes & a pancake cooking station increased the appetite.
The restaurant gives a very cool effect specially the tables near the windows with pleasant outside views and such an amazing variety of breakfast items on your table makes your day.
Here is the long list of menu which we had at breakfast …
At one corner you will find variety of juices, on the other hand different varieties of cheese, labban , cereals, jams, honey, Croissants ( chocolate, zatar & plain),& bread is available for your selection.
Fresh salads, & Arabic salads/mezzes, Olives, Yogurt, meat sausages, Veal Bacon, Scrambled Eggs, Bean Stew, Boiled Eggs, Steamed Tomatoes, Hash Browns, Foul Madams /Baleelah with condiments.
There is something for everyone, for those who miss food from back home…. After a long time I found my favorite combination of eating Channa ( chick pea stew) with Paratha here. Enjoyed a lot!!
Abundance of fresh fruits like melons, watermelons, pineapple, stewed fruits like apricots, peaches, plums and a bowl of mixed cut fruits etc
Lunch At Orient Café :
Orient Café is situated within the entrance Lobby of Mercure Grand Hotel. Enticing ambiance with off-white comfy sofas, coffee area, a small counter with a display of delectable pastries.
Surrounded by the lush green foliage provides a fresh feeling. We opted to have our lunch in this laid-back atmosphere & talking to our friendly attendant at Orient Café.
The menu has a good addition of starters, salads, sandwiches, wraps, & grills. The tempting grills in the menu evoked our carnivorous feeling.
We had Grilled Lamb Chops …. very flavorful & succulent four pieces of chops served with French fries & grilled veggies.
Oriental Mixed Grill which included lamb chops, lamb Kebab, Shish Tawok, Shish Tikka with French fries and Khubus bread.
Mutton Biryani was another delicious dish done to perfection with enough mutton pieces & served with raita ( yogurt), Pickles & Papadums.
Eden Rock Café
And as the day comes to an end and you move into evening I would suggest to watch the panoramic sunset views from the Eden Rock restaurant situated along side swimming pool just in front of the hotel.
Enjoy food, tea, coffee or juices, restaurant is open till night .They have seating with a view, in calm and quite ambiance you can spend hours watching sunset and admiring nature.
Dinner At Le Belvedere
Le Belvedere is also situated at the lobby level with a capacious seating , this restaurant offers a good spread of buffet which includes continental dishes & themed nights for weekends.
Live pasta cooking was on offer, & a good variety of salads, starters, main course & desserts.

Hot & Cold Mezze ……. Hot crispy samosas & Falafel.

Main Course …. Mixed Grills, Lamb Stew, Jordanian Chicken Mansaf, Grilled Fish with Tomato & Eggplant Ragout.
Vegans have great treats too … Steamed Vegetables, Boiled Rice, Mashed Potatoes, tasty Dal & vegetable Qorma.
Desserts: Selection of desserts included pastries, cakes, Umm Ali, Fresh Fruits, puddings, & Arabic sweets.
They also have fresh juices, & soft drinks in the menu.
AlKhayama is another hot spot to enjoy the mesmerizing beauty specially during the night. The terrace offers enthralling views of the city alongwith shisha ,tea and company of friends and family.
Here I must mention the hotel is family friendly place, While you are at the pool or water slides, kids can enjoy water games and kids pool or play in the park.
Your time spent well at Gym, Spa, Kids Fun Zone ,Squash Court, Table Tennis, & Mini Golf.
One staycation must be planned to experience the beauty of dessert & enticing views during day & night from at the top of Jebel Hafeet with the comforts provided at Mercure Grand Hotel and savor good quality food from their restaurants.
