Dubai set for another culinary as Marka PJSC and Hearst Magazines International Open World’s First Harper’s BAZAAR Café

Dubai sees another classy food outlet in its fashion hub Dubai Design District. The swanky Design District (d3) attracts high class fashionistas at its exclusive fashion, art & cultural events and at the same time growing number of eateries out of which Harper’s Bazaar has pinned its world’s first Harper’s Bazaar Café. The café, which is launched by Dubai’s Marka PJSC – the first public stock retail operator in the UAE – and Hearst Magazines International is the first time the internationally renowned brand has ventured into the food and beverage arena.
This unique concept was designed with Dubai’s foodies and socialites in mind, as well as its art, design and fashion communities, as it brings Harper’s BAZAAR’s distinct point of view to life through cuisine, culture and style. “Marka is delighted to be bringing to Dubai a dining and fashion brand experience that will be the epitome of glamour, style and sophistication with the Harper’s BAZAAR Café,” commented Marka CEO Nick Peel.
Hesham Al Mekkawi, Managing Director of Marka Hospitality, said: “We are proud to have launched the world’s first Harper’s BAZAAR Café in Dubai Design District and look forward to the d3 location serving as a launch pad for future growth and expansion of this exciting concept in the MENA region.”
“Harper’s BAZAAR launched in Dubai in 2007, and was immediately embraced by fashion-forward readers in the UAE, who love the expertly curated, graphic style and visual energy that defines the brand around the world,” Kim St. Clair Bodden, Hearst Magazines International senior vice president and editorial director, said. “The Café brings that vision to life, in a chic environment that highlights the ultimate luxury: extraordinary service.”
It’s perfectly situated as well to be a meeting place for the fashion-forward creatives of d3 that manage both local and international talent alike.
The venue itself has a dining capacity of 140, with 74 interior seats and 66 across the 166 m2 outdoor terrace, which is inspired by the secret gardens and retreats of renowned fashion houses. The terrace provides an enticing entrance to the café itself as well as an ideal event space. The restaurant approach is quite convenient , passing through the extensive stylish buildings of d3 you reach a very attractive and delicately built café with its full length glass windows which is quite appealing for customers as ambience counts equally as much as the food.
Ample seating arrangement has been done outside by placing white cane furniture which can be ideal for the pleasant winter days. Modish interior furniture with its neutral color schemes , and tables somewhere with the glass tops and some white coffee tables are comfortable to enjoy on your favorite hot & cold beverages , soups, salads ,light healthy bites and above all an extensive breakfast menu which includes selection of pastries, breads, granola ,fresh fruit salad, pan cakes, varieties in eggs etc.
We had the pleasure of attending their grand launch event. The evening was attended by glamorous crowd , foodies & media.
Mocktails kept flowing in throughout the evening which included Fresh Raspberry, lemon juice , soda water, sangria which has fresh seasonal fruits and water, lemon mint etc. Coffee ,cappuccino was also being served by the cheerful staff who offered generously. The fixed menu on the day which was being served to the guests was
• Spiced Watermelon Gazpacho with Goat Cheese.
• Smoked Salmon, spring onion, cream cheese on pumpernickel bread.
• cured duck, labneh and green apple.
• Mini Quinoa Salad.
• Marinated Anchovy, Beetroot Hummus and Feta Cheese.
• Panko Prawns with Sweet Chilli Sauce.
Sweet treats were the blissful Lemon Tartlets, Chocolate Eclairs, Apple Crumble.
What I tried was Panko prawns with sweet chilli sauce , salmon bites and Quinoa salad all were truly good in taste.Water melon Gazpacho with goat cheese was another good combination. At their special launch occasion each guest received exclusive giveaways from Harper’s Bazaar.
I will definitely plan my next visit specially for a breakfast morning after having a look at their breakfast menu as the ambience combined with good food is what we are really looking for ! Must visit place comfortable for friends and family visits.
