A.O.C French Brasserie – Sofitel Dubai Jumeirah Beach

Just with Ramadan around the corner, till now I have experienced quite a few Iftar previews here in UAE , out of those fabulous dinners A.O.C at Sofitel Jumeirah arranged an unforgettable Iftar Preview event few days back. Sofitel Dubai Jumeirah Beach is situated along the prime waterfront location of Jumeirah Beach Residence, “The Walk” and the new low-rise retail and leisure destination “The Beach”.
To welcome Ramadan , A.O.C French Brasserie turned festive with all its Arabic themed preparations.
The restaurant is ornamented with traditional Emirati style patterned draperies, throughout the ceiling as well as on walls. Popular at all occasions the art of henna which is much-loved tradition here is also arranged at one corner.
The tremendous works by Alliance Francaise Foundation Photography exhixbition are displayed at the Plantation area, the area has been turned to gazebo with quite an interesting setup and organized seating where visitors can relax during upcoming Ramadan hours. And the indoor hall is all set for the fans to relax in the comfortable ambience and watch the matches .
Not only this the outdoor area is equally fascinating and welcoming. The calm ambience with the beautifully displayed lanterns perfect for families and groups of friends . You can also spend hours having shisha by the poolside.
The very spacious hall has an impressive arrangement of seating for all types of gatherings, even separate section where families can relax & savor their Iftar meals.
Massive setup of dishes has been done with separate sections for salads, desserts main dishes, juices , dry fruits, snacks and live cooking stations.
Each table is set in accordance with juices, salads, dates, nuts etc for breaking the fast . Service is so quick with efficient staff at you service.
Lavish display of all sorts of dry nuts, variety of dates and juices like Karkadi, the very famous jallab drink, tamerhindi, fresh labneh and more ….. each drink had its own refreshness and taste. As always I opted for jallab .
Salads and hot & cold mezze included hummus , vine leaves, mutabal, muhamarrah, babaganoush, couscous salad, makdous, chicken salad, fresh green salads and much more.
Not only this a wide variety of different flavored and coated cheese was also in the menu…. some of those like Ekkawi, Nabulseyeh, shanklish etc.
Chefs were busy in preparing different items on live stations like Gozlam ( Turkish samosas) with different stuffings, pancakes, Chicken shawarma etc. Some other starters were quiche, fatayers, mini pizzas and much more.
Shawarma was richly stuffed with juicy chicken.
On one side the centre of attraction is the all-time favorite of Arabic cuisine Lamb Ouzi. Other main dishes were Summan Fish Pepper, Vermicelli Rice, Saute Potatoes, Seasonal vegetables, Bathinjan Sheikh al mahshy ( Aubergines with stuffed lamb), Baby marrow filled mince lamb in yogurt , Jhinga masalah Prawn, Moroccan Chicken Tajine with almond & lemon, Vegetable Curry, Vegetable Biryani,Butter Chicken, and my favorite portion of mixed grills had those yummiest chicken satay, mutton satay and beef kebabs.
Being much fan of meat dishes and grills I had a small portion of lamb ouzi along with chicken satay and kebab. Grills were succulent . Fish Pepper was moist and perfect, both veg & non- veg variety was prepared with mild flavors Jhinga masalah (Prawns) is another great recipe on their menu, butter chicken had a creamy gravy with soft chicken chunks, vegetable biryani was light and yummy too.
The biggest attraction and a wide spread portion of desserts captured the attention of each guest. Not only the menu had all variety of Arabic desserts but at the same time many kinds of cakes, tarts, puddings made it difficult to select. Kunafa Nabolsia,Basbousa,Umm Ali, Barazek, Pistachio Raspberry Mousse Cake, Red Fruit Fraicher, Tiramisu Cake, Peach Saffron Cream Tart, Explosion Praline, Strawberry Almond Dasquaise, Coffee Eclairs, Opera Cake, Chocolate Raspberry Cake, Rosewater Watermelon Salad, Cream caramel Orange flavor & fruits. After having completing my sumptuous meal , I could only taste very small bites of few desserts ,opera cake, pistachio raspberry cake were so delightful, Explosion praline & peach saffron cream tart are among the hit items as well. Had an amazing Iftar experience . Thanks Sofitel for inviting us!
