If you are looking for a great ambiance , spacious restaurant and a wide range in menu both veg and Non veg , I would recommend a hidden gem in Satwa Grand Barbeque Restaurant ….. Not only this but it also serves the best fusion recipes to cater the needs of diverse cultures here in UAE. We were invited few days back as part of the Iftar preview launch.
With its roots from India it focuses on Indian dishes, live chaat corner, authentic Indian vegetarian recipes and at the same time it has pretty fair addition of Non Veg variety , mouth watering grills which doubled my excitement. Some where it is pure desi touch in the recipes on the other hand live cooking pasta station is at your service if you are in a mood of eating Italian. The best Thai flavor which I discovered here is the amazing Thai Tiger prawns…. Mind blowing flavor with the special aroma of galangal and other Thai ingredients. Another must try is their Dimsums both veg & Non veg…… loved the seafood dimsum.
Honestly speaking the menu is so elaborated it is not possible to try all in a visit , but so far whatever we tasted we got an idea how much delicious all dishes must be.
The long line of salads had the fresh greens , chicken walnut , coleslaw, olive salad, pineapple salad , fattoush , laccha onions , kachumbar salad , raitas and lot more……. Amongst the line of dressings I tasted honey pepper, fattoush dressing & cocktail dressing all tasted very good.
They had two varieties in Soup Chicken Talumein Soup & Pepper Coriander soup.
In chaats we had the tangy pani puri with its refreshing mint water and imli water. They also have dahi puri , bhel etc.
Starters are amazingly more in variety ….. Aloo pudina tikki , Corn Papad cutlets, Chicken Loli Pops, Afgani Paneer Tikka , Tandoori Subzi chaat, Chilli Chicken, Pepper Tossed Fish, Tandoori Chicken , Mutton Seekh kebab, Chicken Satay , Ajwaini Fish Tikka, Thai Grilled Prawns, Murgh Lahsuni Tikka, Crispy Veg salt & pepper…… this is really impressive, after having such details in the starters there is no room left for the main course. Out of this vast variety I tried potato Pudina tikki ,Afghani paneer tikka which were too good, if you are fond of hot spicy flavors my full recommendations are for Chilli chicken & Pepper tossed fish which I liked a lot. Although spicy but it did not overpower the flavors in the fish and chicken , both were juicy and distinctive in taste. Next I tried the Ajwaini fish tikka, and the tandoori chicken , preparing fish with the ajwain is an old cooking style but this exactly how it has to be, if you develop a taste of some unusual ingredients like ajwain( carom seeds) you will definitely love this dish. Ajwain is also known for its health benefits. Must try murgh Lahsuni it was good to go with those fresh garlic butter naans and raita. Above all were the very delicious Thai grilled prawns with all its palatability & crispness . Subzi chaat is another great healthy dish to try.
Main course included Chicken karahi, Kashmiri Roghanjosh, Honey sesame Cauliflower, Palak Paneer, Corn Capsicum masala, Veg Kolapuri, Dal Makhani, Lamb kheema, Mutter Pav, Murgh Makhani,Boiled rice, Chicken biryani …… Chicken karahi had mild creamy gravy, mutton roghanjosh was another great recipe, juicy meat in creamy gravy with hints of special Indian flavors. Kheemah, rice, sesame cauliflower also tasted good.
Kids corner serves pizza and fries as well.
The most delectable part of the meal is its dessert portion…. Grand barbeque also serves special sugar free desserts like panna cotta & tarts…… so those with a caution in eating are also taken care of here …… mouthwatering chocolate fountain is a big attraction equally for kids and adults. Additionally Mahalabia, pineapple upside down cake & mango cheese bites, different flavors in panna cotta, custard, gulab jamun, Gajar halwa, strawberry falooda halwa and fresh fruits etc……
And to serve more during Ramadan additions are planned in the menu like kunafa, Ouzi etc, home delivery service will also be available soon which includes Matka Biryani served in clay pots. Independent set cabins are best suited for families and group events here specially during Ramadan. The restaurant is quite spacious with well organized seating arrangement.
We had a great evening with the most delectable food and guidance of our attendant Nameet & the entire staff. Thanks to the team and one of the restaurant owners Mr Haji Gani.
