Rooftop Hotel Royal Ascot completely turned into an Indian Punjabi village couple of months back. Punjabi culture , flavors from India, great Punjabi hospitality was seen at Rooftop Royal Ascot where Baisakhi celebrations were in full swing. I adored visiting the place through an invitation. Hotel is conveniently located at Khaled Bin Waleed Road. It has an expansive & impressive entrance lobby .
A model of cow & a cart typical as of a village view was displayed at the entrance lobby of Rooftop.
As you enter you see milestones showing Chandigarh, Haryana, Ludhiana various places of India , simply fell in love with the style, specially if one belongs to the same places imagine how much joy & smile it can put on its face. Just as you turn towards Haryana you will find yourself on railway track embossed on the floor which also leads you towards the train image. Pappu Garage is another interesting corner . Ludhiana welcomes you with an old style well made of bricks with a bucket and water . loved the whole concept! This is not all, Seating arrangement was very well organized which along with soft comfortable sofas also includes the typical village seating ‘’ Charpais’’ and the old styled kerosene lamps ‘’Lanterns’’. I wonder if they still have all this set up or turned into a new theme.
Live cooking stations and staff roaming with those silver kettles and glasses serving karak chai added much delight to the ambiance. Above all were the Punjabi songs amused the customers throughout the evening.
We were given a very warm welcome by the staff and the pleasant natured owner Ms Rekha. Had a memorable time in her company & warm hospitality . We were offered drinks , my mango lassi with real flavors of mango gave much delight in the beautiful weather and colorful buntings above our head.
The very tangy and tasty samosa chaat was perfect to enjoy in this kind of weather. Broken samosas were richly covered with yogurt and chutneys. Fish Koliwada is another yummiest item to try which was soft and full of flavor. I have tried Dahi ke kebab before,so second time I was trying here, they are serving such gorgeous looking Dahi ke kebabs , mild & tasty. For non veg foddies they have a lot on their menu, we were so much filled up with these items but then couldn’t resist from Tawa mutton when it came to us. Chefs are busy preparing mutton, chicken grills & live cooking stations with big round tawas where tawa mutton or tawa chicken are on huge demand. It is served with buns filled with omelette. Mutton was very delicious with mild flavors , enjoyed eating with buns (pav).
The best part of any dinner which concludes to add value is dessert. We had the best out of their dessert menu…. rich gulab jamuns and those very crispy jalebis served with special rabri. Jalebis were crisp and and aromatic. Rabri was truly delightful. Shisha is also available , perfect place for friends to hang around with the availability of good food and ambiance.
A special thanks to the entire team and management of Rooftop Royal Ascot for their hospitality.
