Media savours delicious food-tasting event as Dubai Food Festival’s popular hub at Kite Beach unveils action-packed programme from 25 Feb – 12 March
Dubai Food Festival kick started with all its gusto , food & fun filled event at the Kite Beach canteen entertained a huge crowd of Media & Bloggers at the official launch.
The media event was graced by H.E. Laila Mohammad Suhail, CEO of the Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), an agency of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM), and the organisers of DFF 2016. H.E Laila Suhail welcomed the media and toured the unique site, meeting and speaking with the food vendors participating in the Beach Canteen.
Celebrity Chef Manu Feildel gave a wonderful surprise to fans and friends when he made an appearance at the Etisalat Beach Canteen, meeting and posing with them for photographs. Taim Al Falasi, well known food blogger and Etisalat Brand Ambassador, was also present, much to the delight of her fans, who were visiting the Etisalat Beach Canteen.
Seventeen outlets, mostly home-grown brands, have taken their rightful place at thefree-to-attend hub Etisalat Beach Canteen to showcase their gastronomic offerings. These include Jambo’s Grill, Ting Irie, Pinza, Shawarma Station, Karak House, Moshi, Classic
Burger Joint, Mantoushe, Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management , WOFL, The Hot Dog Stand, Barsalata, Khameer & Dough, Mokha 1450, Häagen-Dazs and Sugarmoo.
Dubai Food Festival, which commenced on 25 March, runs until 12 March under the theme ‘Celebrate the Taste’ with the star attraction being the Etisalat Beach Canteen, which is also serving as the main ticket booking platform for all major DFF 2016 events.
While trays of food floated around the Etisalat Beach Canteen, highly talented singers came on stage to sing some of their original melodies, as the audience enjoyed delicious bites of the food.
Some of the food bites served to the audience included three popular flavours of ice cream by Event Sponsor Häagen-Daz, Zucchini and Chia Seed cake by Barsalata and falafel filled sushi by Moshi. Pinza with their ‘Urthi’ product made of potato and rosemary as well as their ‘shroom’ product made from mushrooms were delivered to the foodies by the owners themselves. For an Emirati take-away, Khameer & Dough offered mouth-watering savoury pastries with four types of cheese which gave them a salty bite.
The weather was amazing , Kite beach is a must visit family place, specially during DFF , they have a line of entertainment & activities all over…… here are some details of all those yummy food bites which were being served to us throughout the evening. As we walked in we were served the refreshing sumac drink followed by Kale salad & soft and yummiest zucchini cake. Sweet & savoury gulten free waffles, loved the toppings . Biscuits from Sugar moo, Burger joint served the delectable beef sliders and beef & falafel shawarma. Mantoushe served its mouthwatering rolls, I liked their Beirut Chic and Rosto rolls but they have all veg & non veg options. Tingrie served coconut water and fresh salad with grilled chicken. Pizzas were served with different toppings each one was so tempting and delightful. Another must visit is Karak house….As we moved to first floor of beach canteen , full of scrumptious items welcomes you …this is all about Karak House…. Varieties of flavoured hummus, flavored luqamat, qeema( minced meat) paratha rolls, chai and much more.Beautiful beach view from terrace added taste to Karak chai with paratha roll . Another palatable stall was of Burger point who served their most amazing chicken sliders in saffron buns. MoShi ( momo & sushi) served their best flavors in sushi.
2016 Etisalat Beach Canteen Schedule
On Saturday, 27 February, Etisalat Beach Canteen-goers will enjoy top culinary tips and tricks from Australia’s most legendary celebrity chefs during interactive demonstrations at the live chef’s theatre from noon till 4:445pm. The action will kick off with Chef George Calombaris at 12:00 PM, followed by Chef Gary Mehigan at 1:00 PM, Chef Shannon Bennett at 2:00 PM, Chef Matt Moran at 3:00 PM, and Manu Feildel at 4:00 PM.
Fans will be delighted to meet other celebrity chefs throughout the duration of the Etisalat Beach Canteen, including the ‘Queen of Arabian cuisine’ Chef Manal Al Alem on Tuesday, 1 March, MasterChef India winner Nikita Gandhi and MasterChef New Zealand winner Tim Read on Wednesday, 2 March and Nathan Outlaw, one of the stars from Taste of Dubai on Thursday 10 March.
The Etisalat Beach Canteen will give foodies the chance to learn the secrets behind their favourite dishes in Dubai’s finest restaurants, with cooking demonstrations from Dubai Restaurant Week’s top chefs during the first two weekends.
An authentic selection of the best vendors from the different Farmers’ Markets around Dubai will present a sensory feast at the Etisalat Beach Canteen on Saturday, 12 March.The Best of Farmers’ Market will provide food lovers with a taste of the freshest produce around town in a picturesque picnic setting at Kite Beach. The day will include highlights such as Restaurant Wars.
Food & Film Nights returns by popular demand, focusing on the longstanding link between food and storytelling by giving audiences the opportunity to experience the two concepts served together. Set under the stars, Movie Nights at Etisalat Beach Canteen will take place every Friday and Saturday, showcasing family-friendly films and restaurants offering film-inspired tastes.
A big draw at the Etisalat Beach Canteen is the range of free-to-attend fitness events and activities. Guests can boost their calorie burn whilst savouring all of the fitness events at the Etisalat Beach Canteen. In collaboration with community gyms and fashionable expert-led classes by HOTBOX, each day the Etisalat Beach Canteen will feature a different class: HITT (High Intensity Training), beach yoga (morning, and evening), Hula Hoop Jam, Fitness and Fun for Kids by MyGym, FlyBarre and beach Pilates.
Physique TV will run events dedicated to fitness and wellbeing throughout the Etisalat Beach Canteen, so that visitors enjoy all the gastronomic delights without guilt.
The Etisalat Family Fun Day on Saturday, 5 March will see a range of family and food-fuelled activities including children’s yoga from 10:00 – 11:00, a special Etisalat Cook-Off at 13:00, kids cooking classes by Al Islami from 1:30 PM – 2:00 PM, and ‘Master Chef Meets Amateur Mum & Dad’ from 14:00 – 16:00.
On Friday, 11 March, the Etisalat Beach Canteen will introduce Family Market from 10:00 – 20:00, featuring a whole day of fitness and fun for children, the ‘We Love Art’ picnic, a special Disney-themed Food & Film Night and a cooking activity with young Emirati baking sensation Chef, Bader Al Awadhi.
For those looking for a unique outdoors after-school activities with their children, there will be a ‘Storytelling by the Sea’ in association with BookMunch Café. It will take place on the beach each Thursday from 16:00 – 17:00 where a selection of books that are inspired by food, will be provided.
Fashion-lovers and friends will love the Fashionistas marketplace at the Food & Fashion days on Tuesday, 8 and Wednesday, 9 March, a daytime beach market featuring different design and fashion vendors and a special fashion-inspired menu. On the Tuesday, NOIR will host an exclusive blind dining ticketed dinner event from 20:00 – 22:00.
